Job Purpose

To drive the Service vehicles, transporting residents to various activities in the community including local shopping

areas, local colleges, voluntary work placements and medical appointments whilst ensuring their safety. 

Role Responsibilities

About the role

Be responsible for ensuring that wheelchairs are safely clamped to provide necessary assistance to enable passengers to board/disembark and to ensure all wheelchair restraint systems are safe and maintained

Take all necessary precautions for the safe transit of passengers and participate in the activity as required

Be responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness and checking of the vehicles for faults and to report to the Facilities Manager any required maintenance and repairs and, where appropriate, arrange for these to be carried out. Liaising with the garages in question on time scales, cost, etc.

Ensure vehicle records are kept up to date in accordance with current legislation/good practice

Liaise with other Departments regarding the coordination of movement of vehicles throughout the Service  

Ensure that all relevant information relating to the residents  is relayed to appropriate staff members and recorded in accordance with QEF policy and procedures

About you

Full (clean) UK driving licence (including category D1) and at least 2 years driving experience

Able to work as part of the team and on own initiative

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work flexible and unsociable hours on a rota basis
