BBC London News features QEF Mobility Services

In a story about older drivers, BBC London News approached us to find out more about the assessments we provide at QEF Mobility Services for people with age related impairments, to assess whether people are safe to continue driving.

Most people are referred to us, or other mobility centres across the UK, for driving assessments either by the DVLA or a health professional such as a GP. Each assessment takes 2+ hours and looks at reaction times, cognitive and physical considerations and any equipment options that could be put in place to support the individial’s needs. The results are then discussed with the individual concerned and also shared with the referrer.

Email mobility@qef.org.uk if you would like to find out more about the different types of mobility assessments available for people of all ages. Our expert occupational therapists, and approved driving instructors can help you to increase your mobility and your independence.
