Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF), the charity that supports people with disabilities to increase their independence and already operates a mobility centre in Carshalton, Surrey; is now offering driver assessments in Worthing.
Operating from the Charmandean Centre in Forest Road, Worthing, the new QEF Mobility Service satellite centre is offering free assessments for local residents that are referred by a health care professional until the end of September 2018.
The instructors can assess your safety to drive and recommend ways to improve safety, such as car adaptations and extra tuition. An occupational therapist and an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) perform the assessments which start with a friendly chat about circumstances, then a physical and cognitive assessment, followed by an on-road drive.
QEF Mobility Services is one of the UK’s largest providers of mobility advice and support for people with disabilities and age-related impairments. This assessment is for drivers with a neurological condition, mobility restrictions, physical disability or psychological difficulty, provisional licence holders and those aged over 70. Each assessment requires a referral from a healthcare professional.
