Neuro Rehabilitation Services

QEF is a leader in acquired brain injury rehabilitation with particular expertise in supporting younger adults. We specialise in combining therapy with vocational programmes.

Specialist Therapies

Mobility, communication, memory and behaviour are just some of the many functions that may be radically altered as a result of brain injury. Our specialist therapy teams offer rehabilitation for all cognitive, physical, communication and social difficulties following brain injury and stroke.

Clinical Psychology

We aim to enhance cognitive, social and emotional functions as well as giving individuals an insight into their difficulties and helping them to develop ways to deal with them. One-to-one and group sessions address each individual’s area of need.

We use therapeutic techniques, such as: cognitive behaviour therapy; solutions focused therapy; and supportive psychotherapy, to provide emotional support and address general well-being.

Occupational Therapy

To enable and empower individuals to achieve the very best they can in their everyday life through our practical approach to treatment. Independence is encouraged as far as possible through supervised tasks such as personal care, mobility, domestic activity and household management.

Physiotherapy

To improve functional abilities, mobility and independence and plan for appropriate long term management through expert treatment tailored to each person’s level of need. We provide the required specialist equipment for each stage of the rehabilitation journey to achieve the best possible outcomes; including walking harness, treadmill, Vibrogym and access to a hydrotherapy pool and horse riding.

Speech and Language Therapy

To improve speech, language, communication and swallowing problems that have arisen as a result of brain injury. Individuals are empowered in their one-to-one or group sessions to communicate effectively and develop coping strategies or alternative means of communication to improve their social interaction. Our team teaches how to read and interpret other peoples’ verbal and non-verbal communication as well as focusing on sequencing, problem solving and memory to improve language production.

Care and Rehabilitation support

To provide 24 hour care, support and supervision for our clients. We foster skills in self-care and independent living and encourage clients in their social and leisure activities. Our team undergo extensive training so they can offer the highest level of care. Pastoral care extends to clients’ families, with whom we speak every week.

Clients are registered with a local GP practice and the care team work with the GPs and relevant specialist medical services to promote optimum physical and mental health.
