Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
Acquired brain injury services, from assessment through to intensive neuro rehabilitation and education.
Acquired brain injury (ABI) rehabilitation services
We provide residential or non-residential rehabilitation for adults aged 16-65 years who have severe and complex disabilities from acquired brain injury, arising from accident or illness. We provide assessment, intensive neuro rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and integrated learning programmes to help in the rehabilitation of people who have acquired brain injuries.
Ethos
A person centred approach is central to our work with acquired brain injuries; clients are empowered to work towards their goals, exercise choice, plan for their future and maximise independence. Clients attend 1:1 or group sessions to develop their cognitive, communication, physical, social and functional abilities and vocational skills.
Multi-disciplinary team
The specialist and highly experienced acquired brain injury services team includes: a Neuro Rehabilitation Consultant, Clinical Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Teachers, Recreation Assistants, Rehabilitation Support Assistants, Administrative Assistants and Facilities staff. Other professionals will be involved in client care, as required.
Therapeutic Intervention
- Therapeutic intervention is tailored to the individual’s needs, focusing on identified goals, which are regularly reviewed.
- Vocational rehabilitation provides support in developing vocational skills, with practical application through work placements and support with re-entry to work.
- Future planning and support with transition.
- Our therapists are all registered with the Health Professions Council and their professional body.
Acquired brain injury rehabilitation Support
Trained Rehabilitation and Recreation Support teams provide ongoing support for Therapeutic, Care, Social and Leisure needs.
