Pass Plus

Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the two years after passing their test.

Pass Plus builds on the skill and knowledge that you have gained when taking lessons before passing the driving test. The course will teach you how to further develop your skills of planning and anticipation and to help you become more confident  in a range of conditions including driving on motorways

Pass Plus is an established and flexible training course aimed at new drivers. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.

Pass Plus consists of six modules about driving in different conditions including:

  • Town driving
  • Driving in all types of weather conditions
  • Driving on rural roads
  • Driving at night
  • Driving on dual carriageways
  • Driving on motorways

Duration

Pass Plus training will usually take six hours (one hour per module), though it can take longer if you and your instructor think it’s necessary.

The training sessions

Pass Plus is a practical course and all modules should be practical sessions. However, local conditions and time of year may mean that some modules need to be given as a theory session. Generally at least five-and-a-half out of six hours should be spent in the car.

You will not have to take a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed during the modules.

Recording progress

Your instructor will complete a training report form that you’ll sign and date when you reach the required standard in each module. To pass the course you’ll need to reach a satisfactory standard in all the course modules. You’ll be given a progress record to help you to keep track of your progress throughout the course.

At the end of your training

On successfully completing your training you’ll be sent your Pass Plus certificate to claim your discount on your car insurance policy.

Theory Test Tuition NEW

We appreciate the difficulties some people have in learning theory. In order to take a practical driving test, the theory examination needs to be completed. Theory lessons can be arranged with one of our approved driving instructors who have the experience and knowledge in teaching pupils with special needs.

This new service offers you the opportunity of quality one-to-one time to practice theory-based questions. The sessions are interactive and informal, allowing you to ask questions as well as demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.  Progress is closely monitored to identify your strengths, as well as areas where more practice is required.  This service is tailored to every individual’s needs and will support you through your theory examination.
