Mobility Services

QEF offers practical advice, assessment and training for those wishing to drive or increase their mobility through assistive technology, personal mobility vehicles and adapted cars.

Transfer and Seating Assessment

The Transfer and Seating Assessment offers advice and practical trial of equipment to improve access to a car seat and advice on seating and posture to improve comfort for car journeys.

The two-hour assessment is carried out by a qualified occupational therapist who will produce a written report to confirm the outcome of the assessment and recommendations.

The assessment can help to identify the problems that are causing concern during car journeys, either for a passenger or a driver. The large indoor demonstration area offers an opportunity to try various aids and adapted vehicles to find the most suitable solutions. Loading equipment such as wheelchairs or mobility scooters into a car is also considered, as are people who need to travel whilst seated in a wheelchair.
