Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it –both on and off-line.
Developing a better understanding of our supporters through their personal data allows us to make more appropriate requests for support. It ensures that the communications we have with you are targeted and timely, which in turn allows us to use our resources in the most cost-effective way. Ultimately, this helps us to better reach our goal of supporting disabled people to live life to the full.
How do we use your information?
QEF may use your information in the following ways:
- To mail, call or email you with information related to the website, products or services.
- To contact you in the event of a necessary communication exchange requested by you or initiated by QEF (for example, to confirm or check any details asked for).
- To invite you to our events or communicate our campaigns, membership, fundraising and other activities.
- To further our charitable aims.
To use in aggregate form, that is not personally identifiable, for analysis to help us improve our services and products.
QEF will never pass your details on to third parties for marketing or promotional activities or to be used in any other way. However, we may sometimes share your information with trusted third party suppliers who are authorised to act on our behalf to deliver elements of our fundraising and marketing activity. We may also need to disclose your information if required to do so by law.
All personal information transmissions which provide payment or account details are encrypted.
We use a secure server to accept any donations via our website. We also take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.
How do we collect information?
We may collect information about you whenever you communicate with us: when you contact QEF about our services, register as a supporter, register for an event, send or receive information, engage with our social media or make a donation to us.
We may collect aggregated or anonymous information about the services you use and how you use them, whether it is when you visit our website, interact with us in social media and messaging services (such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Facebook), when you watch a video on YouTube or view and interact with our ads and content.
We may also receive information about you from third parties where you have given them permission to share your information or where we gather information from publicly available sources as discussed below.
How do we store information?
We collect and securely store personal information that you provide (whether electronically, face to face, verbally, by mail) in order to continue our efforts to fundraise by, but not limited to: direct marketing (post, telephone, email or text message); fundraising events; marketing of our services and family of charities; market research and administration of gifts (and any related GiftAid), payments, staff, service users and volunteers.
We keep up-to-date and relevant information about our supporters in our secure database. We may carry out analysis of the personal information you give us and add publicly available information (this may include information found in places such as Companies House, the Post Office’s National Change of Address database and information that has been published in articles or newspapers) to create a profile of your interests, preferences and level of potential donations so we can contact you in the most appropriate way and with the most relevant information. When building a profile, we may for example use addresses, information about company directorships or information about the area in which you live. Occasionally we may use third party suppliers to help us to do this efficiently, but they are not allowed to share your information with others.
Your right to know what information we have about you, to make changes to the details or to withdraw your consent
You may edit or delete your details at any time. If your personal details change, please help us to keep your information up to date by notifying us at email@example.com.

You have the right of access the personal information we hold on you. You can make a “subject access request” in writing. Before supplying any information QEF will verify the identity of the requester, gather all the information and supply it within 40 days.
In addition, the type of device you’re using to access our website or apps and the settings on that device may provide us with information such as what type of device it is, what specific device you have, what operating system you’re using, what your device settings are. Your device manufacturer or operating system provider will have more details about what information your device makes available to us.
