Christmas Carol Service 2012

Over 700 people attended the QEF Annual Christmas Carol Service at Guildford Cathedral on Wednesday 19 December 2012.  Guests at the Service enjoyed a wonderful mix of traditional carols and more popular Christmas favourites performed by the famous English Chamber Choir, soloist Harriet Roberts, Rydes Hill School Choir and West End Kids.  There were readings from celebrities Penelope Keith, Nicholas Witchell and Michael Buerk, and former client of QEF Neuro Rehabilitation Services  told the congregation of how his time at QEF had changed his life. A retiring collection was held in aid of QEF and the Cathedral.

Some guests then went on to the Refectory for mulled wine and mince pies where the English Chamber Choir entertained everyone with some popular Christmas classics.

Guinness and Oyster Luncheon 2012

The 47th Guinness and Oyster Luncheon took place on Thursday 22 November, 2012, at Mansion House in the City of London.  Over 400 guests attended this historic City event, kindly sponsored by Diageo and co-sponsor Oracle.  Former England Rugby Captain, Martin Corry, entertained guests talking about some of his rugby experiences and there was a surprise special guest appearance from Welsh rugby legend JPR Williams.  QEF Vocational Services trainee, Sean,  gave the audience a moving account of how a life changing event in his late teens had brought him to QEF and how this had transformed his life.

As well as the Guinness and sumptuous oysters guests partook in a Silent Auction and Grand Draw and over £53,000 was raised from the event in aid of QEF.

Ben Nevis Challenge 2012

The threat of bad weather did nothing to put off our intrepid mountaineers.  Some had already experienced the lashing rain from the QEF Santini Bikeathon only a week earlier.  It was a challenge and a mist shrouded summit was the reward.

Morale however was exceptionally high and by all accounts an hilarious time was had by all.  Congratulations and thanks from QEF to all who participated and all who made it possible.

This was QEF’s first assault on Ben Nevis and judging by results will not be the last.
